John Wick (2014)

 John Wick (2014)

 Watching the Movie:

Have you ever wondered what it would be like if the end boss from every video game you've ever played got pissed off and took the fight to the players? John Wick essentially feels like what the Matrix sequels should have been, Neo just murdering agents for 2 hours over and over again. Outside of the first 20 minutes of the movie; John Wick is some of the most fun one can have watching an action movie

Screening the Film:

Man's motivation, professional actions vs personal actions, man's purpose and sense of meaning. Cultural and societal norms, masculine and feminine energies. Tool selection for task completion. Grief and coping with loss/trauma. There also is one or two images of the roles animals; especially pets, play in our lives.

 Best Dialogue/Quotation:

Viggo Tarasov: It's not what you did, son, that angers me so. It's who you did it to.

Iosef Tarasov: Who? That fucking nobody?

Viggo Tarasov: That "fuckin' nobody"... is John Wick. He once was an associate of ours. They call him "Baba Yaga."

Iosef Tarasov: The Boogeyman?

Viggo Tarasov: Well John wasn't exactly the Boogeyman. He was the one you sent to kill the fucking Boogeyman.

Iosef Tarasov: [stunned] Oh.

Viggo Tarasov: John is a man of focus, commitment, sheer will... something you know very little about. I once saw him kill three men in a bar... with a pencil, with a fucking pencil. Then suddenly one day he asked to leave. It's over a woman, of course. So I made a deal with him. I gave him an impossible task. A job no one could have pulled off. The bodies he buried that day laid the foundation of what we are now. And then my son, a few days after his wife died, you steal his car and kill his fucking dog.

The Bottom Line:

In lots of action movies; the reason for the killing spree is irrelevant; bad guys need killin' and we want to enjoy ourselves while the flaming sword of justice mows them down like fresh grass in April. John Wick does not take this path.

There are a few moments in time within which it is not only acceptable for a man to cry, it is expected...

Every one knows who Keanu Reeves is. Fans of Game of Thrones and Friday Night Lights know who Alfie Allen and Adrianne Palicki are. Nobody knows who Andy the Dog is; but Andy the Dog makes this movie.

Daisy is not on screen for long, but every second of screen time is magical. When Daisy is killed, we feel it. None of us (presumably) have the skill set to kill Russian thugs with writing utensils, but if we did then God help these bastards. Stealing the car alone would not have gone unpunished; but when that dog is killed, then there was no going back. John Wick would have worked without the murder of Daisy, just not nearly as well.

If you don't tear up when John Wick is holding Daisy's lifeless body in his arms. Then I'm sorry for your soul bro.
